January 20: 2018 JETAA Q/A AGM

Dear JETAA Québec/Atlantique Members,

Happy New Year! We wish you health and success in 2018, and look forward to seeing you at our events this year!

Here are the long-awaited news regarding this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Shinnenkai, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, January 20, 2018.

We apologise for the short notice, and have decided to significantly lower the cost of the event as a sweetener!

For newly-returned JETs or Dai-Senpai who have not had the chance to get involved with JETAA in recent years, the AGM is our chapter’s most significant event of the year.  Besides being an opportunity for old and new friends to mingle in the festive atmosphere of the New Year, the AGM celebrates yet another successful cycle of diverse activities in the JET community and beyond, and opens the next cycle with the election of a new Executive Committee.

Again, this year, our event is hosted at Marusan Comptoir Japonais, a Japanese restaurant that specializes in donburi, bento, and sushi, but also turns into a pop-up Izakaya on Thursday and Friday evenings, perfect for mingling and discussion! For our Annual General Assembly, the team at Marusan are putting together a varied menu of small Izakaya-style dishes and sushi! For more information, please take a look at this Coco Montreal article from June 2016.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

To make registration as no-nonsense as possible for everyone, JETAA Q/A is continuing the implementation of its new payment system. You need only use the button below to register and pay.

And you can pay using any of a number of accepted credit cards! No more transfers between PayPal accounts.

Note: Please register by or before 5 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 (places are limited, and will be allocated on a first-registered, first-served basis).

  1. First, select the appropriate number of attendees (either one Early Bird JETAA Q/A member, one Early Bird JETAA Q/A member and a plus-one, one JETAA member, one JETAA member and a plus-one, one JSAA member, one JSAA member and a plus-one, or one non-member). JETAA (or JSAA) members who are together should pay separately (though they may of course use the same payment method for the two transactions). Please note that the Early Bird options will cease to be available after the first dozen registrations.
  2. Second, please indicate the full name of the JETAA Q/A or JSAA member in the text field.
  3. Third, please indicate whether you have allergies or food restrictions (you can simply type ‘none’ if you do not).

GET INVOLVED: CALL FOR PLATFORMS

In addition to attending our AGM, please consider getting involved in the JETAA Q/A Executive Committee. Getting to interact with new and former JETs and supporting the local Japanese community is great fun: the more, the merrier!

If you are interested, please fill out the following form:

Considering the constrained timeline, we are extending the time allowed to submit a platform until 5 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 (if you have any concerns related to this change, please do not hesitate to contact the committee using the email address at the bottom of this page).

Any level of involvement is welcome and appreciated: a team of annual executive positions and collaborative seasonal support positions ensure that management, operations and events can run smoothly. Certain conditions apply for signatory positions.

Do not shy away for fear of lack of experience: former execs, committee mentors and the Montreal JET Desk will be happy to give you their support.
