Actually, everyone was welcome to the meeting of the Save the World by Overloading it with Fun JETAA Q/A Book Brigade, during which participants discussed The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the trope-tastic first book in the hit series that spawned adaptation after adaptation.
The discussion, led by President of our Hearts Moti Lieberman, ranged in topics from the similarities between western young adult fare and Japanese light novels to the distasteful bits of fan service ever-present in the latter.
The next Book Club, which should take place at the end of May, will feature Kitchen, a well-regarded novel by author Banana Yoshimoto. Please join in! We look forward to welcoming new members and hope to see you then!
